VLADEY presents a solo exhibition «Bouquets and packages» by the Russian art-duo EliKuka (Oleg Eliseev and Jenya Kukoverov) within the framework of the program «Artist of the Week».
For the exhibition the artists have created a series of «floral compositions» from artificial wild animals tails and various consumer goods of mass demand and consumption, such as: mops, packs, brushes, bath mats. Also, the viewers can see a series of picturesque works that outplay the theme of bouquets and packages.
EliKuka: «Bouquets and packages haunt us everywhere. Bouquets on packages, bouquets in packages, wine packages, aroma bouquets, packages of goods and services, a bouquet of diseases, a package of laws ... – that's what first pops into the head. Bouquets and packages are an integral part of any holiday and grief as well, and almost always they are paired. And what is a bouquet? Bouquets are flowers and packaging, that is, flowers and a package. Accordingly, flowers in a package – this is a bouquet. If various artists have already worked with flowers a lot, this field is already mastered, but it was about this pair, about the colors in combination with the package, that not much was said. Both those and other things are short-lived, so it is interesting to fix this moment, reflecting the present. We can say that the world is not currently laid out on the shelves, but is rather packaged: some packages are lying on a dump, some, on the contrary, in expensive and elite stores. Although they look expensive on the one hand, they still remain short-lived things by nature, like bouquets that wither in a couple of days. It's interesting how grandmothers stuff everything in packages, trying to save short-lived objects of mass consumption, which they seem to be something of a great value. In any store the cashier always meets us with the phrase: "Do you need a package? Do you collect chips? "- as if this is something that is vitally important for you.
The theme of bouquets and packages refers to all people, no matter whether they are versed in contemporary art or not. This is what practically all the inhabitants of our planet are facing».
Everyone who wishes can subscribe to the artworks created by the duo EliKuka and their friends on the spot. Within half a year once a month each subscriber will be receiving an art object made by the artists on the chosen topic.
